Psychodynamic psychotherapy

Buzz works with people who are facing a turning point in their lives, whether that be in their relationships, at work or adjusting to life-changing events such as loss, trauma, bereavement or career change. Or, they may be seeking a deeper meaning and purpose to their lives, finding themselves questioning previously firmly held principles.

He works in a psychodynamic way, having been trained in the ideas and methods of Carl Jung, Donald Winnicott, Wilfred Bion and other influential thinkers in the field of depth psychology. He has developed his own style and approach to therapy, which aims to help people resolve difficult problems or states of mind, realise their full potential and achieve more satisfying relationships.

Some people may have specific problems that can be worked through in brief psychotherapy, whereas others may need more time to explore underlying trends and patterns in relating to themselves and others, which can be at time hurtful or distressing.

The problems people want help with include:
·         Anxiety
·         Depression
·         Problematic or abusive relationships
·         Difficulties at work
·         Loss of motivation/loss of purpose
·         Feelings of isolation
·         Feelings of anger
·         Poor self-esteem or self-confidence

People seek help for many reasons, some of which are mentioned above. Or, they may simply be feeling unfulfilled in their lives, thinking there is unlocked potential in them but unsure how to access it.

While therapy cannot fix every problem, it can help us analyse them creatively and constructively, enabling us to understand how and why we act as we sometimes do, and how this might be preventing us from living our lives more fully.

By developing a close working alliance with an experienced, professional therapist, it is possible to gradually work through and untangle some of these ‘knots’, allowing personal change and inner growth to occur.

The first step is a consultation

Contact Buzz to briefly discuss your situation with him. An exploratory consultation can then be arrranged. This will be a more in-depth meeting to think about the background to why you’re seeking help now. It would normally last around 60-75 minutes. Planning any further sessions can be thought about at that time.

Buzz aims for a flexible, tailor-made approach by offering either short-term therapy (i.e a fixed number of sessions), or exploring at greater depth in a regular, but more open-ended way. Sessions are often once weekly, but can be more frequent if desired. This will be discussed at the first meeting as will be fees, which are calculated according to frequency and circumstances.*

After agreeing how to proceed, the way is then open to develop a close working therapeutic alliance. In regular 50-minute sessions and in a confidential and safe setting, you can start to explore your internal world, thinking about how its origins and development might be affecting your current life.

Sessions are offered in person in Battersea, London Bridge, and in Rome, Italy. Online sessions are also a possibility.
